Information Technology Services

Trusted and responsive, Information Technology Services (ITS) leads the Bank of Canada’s technology product, design, and service strategy. Within ITS, you will join our Core Technology Services (CTS) portfolio and become a member of a unified, diverse workforce responsible for the delivery, support, and operations of our mission-critical financial systems.

What you will do

  • Act as the liaison between our portfolio clients and our CTS technology teams to assist in the deployment of solutions.
  • Provide release support including available resources, schedule, and oversight of deployments.
  • Develop implementation plans and deployment schedules with considerations to resource availability, interdependencies, client acceptance, and available change windows..
  • Connect with the application development leads, architects, development team, and CTS SMEs to facilitate the deployment of solutions onto core infrastructure
  • Ensure that the core infrastructure and platform patching is up to date to provide the reliable and stable environments for our clients
  • Responsible to deliver the most complex components of a solution with high technical proficiency
  • Contribute to the design and maintenance of the Dev Ops tool chain
  • Utilize programming languages and industry DevOps tools to create, update and modernize delivery of solutions
  • Represent the DevOps team as a SME including estimating capacity and throughput necessary for forecasting implementation and development activities.
  • Responsible for consistent deployment processes as well as continuous improvements of the processes and tools used for managing releases.
  • Provide deployment services to ensure the proper deployment and support of application release in progress and the final deployments into production
  • Provide production support working with operational support groups to determine the root cause behind critical production incidents and process challenges
  • Collaborate, share ideas, and coach colleagues
  • Work to reduce technical debt and improve operational support.
  • Drives cultural and technical change, through coaching, mentoring, and influencing in how people think/approach problems
  • Design and maintain the DevOps toolchain using industry best practices and new advances

What you need to succeed

You are self-motivated and independent, requiring little supervision. You are also a great team player with strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate & coach colleagues in ITS. You are a self-starter with interest in lifelong learning new technologies and tools to improve the release processes in CTS.

In addition, you have experience with:

  • DevOps principles and tools (e.g.: Git, Jenkins, Nexus, Flyway, etc)
  • Automation concepts and implementation experience with automation
  • Developing with complex applications, mid tier, database, UNIX, Linux and Windows systems
  • Providing production support working with operational support groups
  • Strong source code management experience and application building experience
  • Risk and vulnerability assessment with a secure DevOps pipeline

Nice-to-have

  • Developing and maintaining automated deployment scripts
  • Experience integrating with an enterprise service bus and queue management system (i.e.: MuleSoft, MQ, etc…)
  • Experience with enterprise job scheduling solutions
  • MS Project, Service Now, and/or Jira expertise

Your education and experience

Your combined education and work experience demonstrate that you have the competencies for the position. We are ideally seeking candidates with a bachelor’s degree or college diploma in computer science, software development or a relevant field along with 7+ years of recent, relevant experience.

  • Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $88,504 to $110,630 (job grade 17)
  • Depending on performance, you may be eligible for performance pay. The first tier of performance pay is for successfully meeting expectation, at 7 to 10% of your base salary. The Bank offers performance pay for those who exceed expectations (15% of your base salary).. Exceptional performers who far exceed expectations may be eligible for higher performance pay.
